And we have a winner — in fact, we have five winners of the Parks & Paths Photo Contest!
We received 700 entries from May 1 through June 30 as residents and non-residents alike tried to win one of five $500 gift cards we were giving away to either H-E-B, Academy Sports & Outdoors or Dick’s Sporting Goods (winner’s choice). To enter, they had to take a photo at any of Sienna’s many parks, paths or open spaces and upload their entry to the website. Photographers traversed Sienna, taking photos of loved ones as well as capturing many spots of natural beauty found throughout the community.
We narrowed the many entries down to the top 25 and then asked a panel of judges to consider composition, creativity, originality and overall expression to pick the top five winners.
Without further ado, here they are!
Lena James took her photo at the Resort at Sienna Springs Park, noting that “this photo captures the true feeling of being young and carefree, surrounded by those you love!”
Stephanie Harris took her award-winning photo at Plaza Park, saying it captures “the joy of running through beautiful scenery and a new park!”
In her entry, Alison Genotte calls the Sawmill Lake Club Playground the “perfect place to picnic.”
Kristine Recorvits likes Sienna Grove Park because it’s a “convenient park in the neighborhood.”
Joi Thomas also took her award-winning photo at Sienna Grove Park, liking it because “it’s close to home and has amenities for younger children.”
We have to give a shout-out to our runners up, as well! They may not have won the big prize, but we hope they had a fun time taking part and capturing adorable photos of their children:
Emily Vitek likes that The Coves/Steep Bank Park is “close by our house — a perfect after-school park!”
Rachel Rachel has a strong connection to the Sawmill Lake Club Park. “This park helped us get through COVID. We would do our morning walks to get out of the house and get our sunshine which honestly helped with our mental health.”
Preet Endapally also is a fan of the park at Sawmill Lake Club. “Sawmill Club Park is a perfect park to visit to enjoy and create memories with your little one!”
Julia Thompson took her photo at one of her favorite spots in Sienna. “Our family loves the Sawmill Splashpad. It’s shaded, has plenty of seating and open in the morning — perfect for early risers!”
Thanks to everyone who participated. If you’d like to see the all the entries, you can do so here.
