The always fabulous Child Advocates of Fort Bend’s Christmas Home Tour is back Friday and Saturday, Dec. 8 and 9, with a return visit to Sienna for an incredible 23rd time.
This event began 32 years ago as a fundraiser to keep the agency’s doors open. A group of volunteers opened their homes, decorated for Christmas, baked cookies and charged admission. The tour was a success and has since become a Fort Bend County holiday tradition filled with incredible displays of holiday décor, entertainment, tasty treats and more. A variety of homes and décor are showcased each year with interior decorators often nominating clients to participate in the tour. A team then visits with the homeowner to determine if the flow of public traffic through the home and neighborhood will work for that year’s tour.
Sienna’s first home on the tour was in 2005; since then, Sienna has been on the tour route nearly every year — and sometimes having more than one home on the tour. This year, one home will be featured in Sienna — as well as homes in Sweetwater and Sugar Creek and our sister communities of Riverstone and Imperial. To find out which ones, you’ll have to purchase a ticket, on sale now here. Tickets cost $35 each, and all proceeds go to support programs and services that benefit the children served by Child Advocates of Fort Bend. Last year, the agency served 3,833 children and families.
Hours for the tour are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9. The agency also has vibrant jeweled butterfly ornaments for sale in a variety of colors. The ornaments are 3 by 3.5 inches and come with a red gift box and red ribbon. Cost is $25.
Sponsorships and volunteer opportunities also are available, with sponsorships of $125 to $10,000 available. More than 700 volunteers are needed to serve as hosts in homes, entertainers or to bake cookies. Sponsor, volunteer or simply tour the homes — you’re supporting an important cause and kicking off the holiday season in style!
